Withheld from release for almost 20 years, Olivier Meyrou’s documentary observes the legendary Parisian haute-couture designer as he and his team prepare what would be his final collection before the esteemed fashion brand sold to Gucci in 1999. Shot in 16mm and filmed over two years with unprecedented access to one of the world’s most renowned fashion houses, Meyrou’s film offers glimpses of the tormented man behind the label and especially his complex relationship with the imperious Pierre Bergé, his partner and the driving force behind the fashion house, who successfully sued to have the film supressed for so many years.
